Determination simply means the ability (the quality of the mind) to reach definite
conclusion; the tendency to a certain end or impulsion. Determination is the
act of defining concept or notion by giving its essential
constituents. Concept here means what an individual really needs from his or
her relationship, education, financial, psychological and social environments
and to be fully functioning and to thrives therein.
individual human development is characterized by proactive engagement, assimilating information and behavioural regulations aim at achieving goals and purposes. From infancy onward people manifest intrinsic tendencies to take interest in, deeply learn about and gain mastery with respect to both their inner and outer world.
Determination is not all about settings goals but more of defining concepts or notion i.e. steps towards achieving those wonderful and meaningful goals. In setting goals there are certain factors to consider;
1. Realistic: How realistic the goals we set for ourselves are; is a major factor to determine whether we are capable of achieving it or not. Achievable goals are goals that are realistic in nature and define within our resources.
2. Using the slight edge principal: Think, meditate and do something about the goals every day.
3. Stick with it. Goals setting is an activity that is not complete until it is achieved. Stick with your goals, don't give up and don't fail to plan.
Self determination posits that inherent in our pursuit of any goal, is the satisfaction obtained at the end of the game. These proximal satisfactions reflects, in the deepest sense, the essence of human thriving, and they predict some number of indicators of wellness and vitality.
